If you are interested in whiter teeth, you don’t always have to pay a lot to get the results you want. In fact, many people end up trying out home remedies for teeth whitening. Here is a look at a few of the options that you may hear of, and some of the reasons they are not a great choice.

One home remedy you may hear of is using lemon juice on your teeth. The problem is that this can be harmful to your teeth. Some people who try using it end up with cavities and tooth enamel that is damaged.

Baking soda is another of those home remedies you’ve probably heard about. Although baking soda in itself is not dangerous, there can be problems. Some toothpastes actually use baking soda, and that is great. It does help to get rid of plaque and can help to whiten your teeth a bit. The problem occurs when you use too much of it and this can cause damage to the enamel on your teeth.

Some people have even tried using wood ash as a home remedy for whitening their teeth. Why anyone would want to put ash in their mouth, I don’t know, but some people have tried it. In some cases, there is potassium hydroxide in the ash, and this can lead to teeth damage as well.

Sure, there are home remedies out there, but they’re not always the safest choice for you. Instead of using home remedies that could potentially damage your teeth, you’re better off to go with a tried and true home method of teeth whitening. This way you get whiter teeth without causing any irreparable damage.
